Morphologically close genera, and how to distinguish them:
  • Cubiandrena – Andrena
Cubiandrena has a large cuboidal head, with an extremely wide vertex. The propodeum shows no differentiated horizontal and dorsal areas, being instead entirely declivous and immediately falling away from the metanotum.
Andrena has a smaller head, without a grossly enlarged vertex. The propodeum is typically divided in dorsal and vertical areas, and where this is reduced (e.g. subgenus Holandrena), there is some level of differentiation as indicated by the presence of a propodeal triangle.

There is only one species recorded in Europe.
